Bespoke pumps for FSRUs

Nikkiso CE&IG is supplying pumps for the conversion of three former LNG carriers to floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), in support of a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm in Europe.
This Company has also provided orders for fuel gas supply system (FGSS) HP pump skids for five very large ethane carrier vessels. Combined, this represents a significant order for Nikkiso CE&IG in Europe in a fastgrowing market.
The challenge
As the world turns towards lower carbon energy solutions like liquefied natural gas (LNG) as alternatives to heavier fossil fuels, FSRUs are becoming increasingly important in providing accelerated LNG-to-power solutions in regions where onshore gas infrastructure is limited. Due to rising demand, vessel operators are increasingly repurposing existing vessels in their fleets as FSRUs, particularly LNG carriers.
Client objective
Given the requirement for cryogenic expertise when handling LNG, Nikkiso CE&IG’s pumps and other associated equipment is perfectly-suited for FSRU conversions, regasification and LNG-to-power solutions.
